Thank you for testing 🧡
Book work on Workboku — the customer app
You're one of the first people to use Workboku — the app that connects Nigerians with trusted artisans and freelancers. This guide walks the full journey in about 10 minutes: create an account, post a job, pay into escrow with a test card, and leave a review. No real money is spent.
Before you start
- You need an Android phone (iPhone isn't supported in this beta yet).
- Tell us the Google account email you'll install with — we add it to the testers list. If it isn't on the list, the Play link won't work.
- Make sure you can open the email inbox for the address you register with — you'll receive a verification code.
Send your Google email to the team first. After we add you, it can take a few minutes to an hour before the app appears in the Play Store.
Install the app
- On your Android phone, open the tester invite link below.
- Tap “Become a tester”, then “Download it on Google Play”.
- Install Workboku like any normal app and open it.

Create an account
On the welcome screen tap Get started. When asked “How would you like to work?” choose “I'm a Client” — the only role open in this beta — and tap Create a profile.
On the Create Client Account form, fill in:
- First name & last name
- Email address (use one you can open now)
- Phone number
- Password & confirm password (they must match)
- Company name — required, even if you're an individual. Just put your name or anything.
- Tick “I agree to the Terms of Service”
Company size, industry and budget are optional — you can skip them and still continue.
Verify your email
- You'll land on “Verify Your Email”. We send a 6-digit code to your email.
- Open your inbox (check spam / promotions too) and type the code. It submits automatically once all 6 digits are in.
- Didn't get it? Wait for the 60-second timer, then tap Resend.
Do NOT tap the yellow “Skip OTP Verification” button. It's a leftover developer shortcut that logs you in without a real session, so the app will show errors and empty screens. Always verify with the real code.
Get oriented
Once you're in, you'll see four tabs at the bottom:
- Home — start a new job and see activity
- Jobs — the jobs you've posted and their status
- Wallet — your balance and escrow
- Profile — your details, verification and settings
A brand-new account is empty on purpose: ₦0.00 wallet and no jobs yet. That's expected — you're about to create the first one.
Post a job (the main mission)
From Home, start a new request. There are two ways to describe what you need:
- Chat booking (recommended to test) — answer a short chat: what service, details, location, and when. You can type or tap the 🎤 mic to speak.
- Manual form — fill in title, description, category, budget and duration yourself.
After describing the job you reach the overview / payment screen. You'll see one of three pricing styles — try any:
- Fixed price — you set a budget and fund the full amount now.
- Get quotes — post for free; vetted vendors send quotes and you only pay into escrow after you accept one.
- Inspection — pay a small inspection fee now (credited toward the repair); the firm quote comes after a technician inspects.
Great things to tell us: was the chat easy to follow? Did it capture the right service and location? Was the price / next step clear?
Pay with a test card
This beta uses Paystack test mode — use the test cards below, never your real card. If you ever see a screen asking for your real bank's OTP or notice an actual charge, stop and report it immediately.
At the payment step choose Pay with card, enter a test card, and complete the Paystack popup:
After paying, your money is held in escrow — it's not sent to the worker yet. It releases in stages as you approve the work. That's the whole point of Workboku, so it's worth checking the Wallet shows a held / escrow amount.
You can also pay from your Wallet balance instead of a card — see step 8 to top it up first.
Track, chat & review
Open your job from the Jobs tab. Inside the job you can:
- Chat with the assigned expert in real time.
- Watch milestones — see how much is held in escrow vs released.
- When work is done, use the complete & review option and give a 1–5 star rating.
Tell us if messages arrive quickly, if the money numbers look right, and if leaving a review was clear.
Wallet & escrow (optional extra)
- Go to the Wallet tab and tap Add Funds.
- Enter an amount and pay with a test card (same cards as above).
- Your available balance goes up. When you fund a job it moves to escrow; when you approve work it becomes the worker's income.
Try the balance filters (all / escrow / income / deposit / withdrawal) and tell us if the totals make sense. All amounts are in Naira (₦).
Known issues — no need to report these
We already know about the following, so please don't spend time on them:
- Only the Client role works in this app — freelancers and PMs use a separate app.
- An older “Project Funding” screen with a fake ₦45,750 balance still exists — it's a leftover demo and doesn't take real payments. The real payment happens on the job overview / quote screens.
- Some screens may occasionally show “Authentication credentials were not provided” or look empty — a known login-token issue we're fixing. Try logging out and back in.
- Voice booking may say it “needs a new build” on some devices — just type instead.
- iPhone / iOS is not available yet.
How to report a bug
Anything confusing, broken, or ugly is worth telling us — even small things. A screenshot or screen-recording helps a lot. Copy this template into your report:
The quickest way is the ticket form — it emails you a copy and gives you a tracking number:
